1973 Le Mans Porsche RSR 2.8

This Historically important Porsche RSR number 0659 was delivered to Switzerland on the 4th of April by the factory for the start of the 1973 race season. In its early life it was painted as it appears today In light yellow. It had a colourful sponsorship life of many colours over its full race history.

It has a very interesting period historic race history from 1973 to late in
1984 It competed all over Europe throughout the 1973 to 1977 race seasons, including successful race finishes at the Nurburgring, Le Mans 24 hours, Imola, Monza, Dijon, Spa, The Targa Florio , Thruxton , Hockenheim, The Tour De France to name just but a few!
In 1973 it was upgraded to a current period full factory 3.0 litre specification.

Over the next few Racing seasons It competed extensively , including again at Le Mans in 1977 where it finished 4th in class and also the Tour De France for its fourth time! Finishing 10th overall. The car then began a great rally history. Including the Monte Carlo rally in 1979 and again in 1980. A full documented race history is available on request. In 1984 it returned to its period race 2.8 litre specification, which It still runs today. The engine number is 6930107 and gearbox number 7931018.

In 2014 it was bought by its present owner for historic Motorsport and he has spent over 3500 hours of work and over 100,000 euros for the current engine rebuild and 250,000 euros on the sympathetic and concise restoration of the bodywork, it is now presented just as it appeared at the start of the 1973 Le Mans 24 hours.
