1953 ALUMINUM C-TYPE JAGUAR
This C-Type offered, is nothing short of a mechanical masterpiece, with attention to detail being the primary focus for the build, which was completed in 2015. Starting with the chassis, supplied by Andy Thomas of Classic Chassis Services, which is dimensionally and structurally correct to the original lightweight tubular space frame, with all the correct details. The XK engine, from a 1953 Jaguar XK120 was stripped and rebuilt by VSE and has been fitted with a genuine C-Type head. The cylinder block and head were flushed examined for wear. The cylinders were bored and new pistons, rings, big and small end bearings were fitted. The crankshaft was ground and balanced with piston assemblies. A high output oil pump was fitted. The C-Type cylinder head was fitted with new seats, valve guides and valves. The correct C-Type profile camshafts were fitted together with new bearings. Complete with sand cast SU Carburetors and original C-Type drum brakes, adds to the authentic detail. Car is eligible for full FIA paperwork.
The bodywork and interior were masterfully fabricated by North Devon Metalcraft Ltd and remain true to the original dimensions with the width of 64.5” and a length of 157”. The seats are direct copies of original C-Type racing seats. The early shade of British Racing Green was completed by T&T Coachworks to an incredibly high standard.
